Summits & Events

Living Observatory periodically organizes summits and field trips to bring the voices and experience of the restoration community into conversation. Each gathering has a different focus, with researchers, landowners, and practitioners sharing what they are trying, what they are finding, and the questions they are still working through.

These gatherings bring people together, helping foster the community. They create space to build relationships, connect lessons across projects, and shape new questions for research and practice. Selected examples are below.

2026, Monitoring Innovative Practice

In May 2026, the LO community gathered at the UMass Cranberry Station and online to discuss restoration practices and ecological monitoring on retired cranberry farms. Conversations explored how monitoring, collaboration, and long-term stewardship can inform the next generation of restoration projects.

2023, Making Meaning at Tidmarsh

In July 2023, LO and Mass Audubon Southeast Region co-hosted a day of exploration at Tidmarsh Wildlife Sanctuary, seven years after restoration. Participants walked the site, shared observations, and gathered insights to inform restoration at other former cranberry farms.
